Professional Highlights:
I have taught Spanish courses in language, literature, and culture at the University of Virginia, Shenandoah University, and Semester at Sea. My peer-reviewed publications have appeared in journals such as Hispania, Ciberletras, Mise-en-scène, and Studies in Spanish & Latin American Cinemas. You also can find my chapters in books published by academic presses in the US, UK, Peru, and Argentina. In addition to my own writing, a cornerstone of my scholarship is my role as the editor for the academic journal MIFLC Review, where I spearheaded the journal’s transition from print to online publication and now oversee all of the journal’s operations.
Research:
I mostly research and write about South American film, and I’ve recently started writing about Spanish-language television. In practice, this means that I analyze the ways that filmmakers and showrunners represent gender and/or race, and why it matters. I am always looking for students and colleagues to talk about movies and shows with me, and I especially enjoy teaching students how to start analyzing film for themselves.

Personal Highlights:
My favorite things to do are speak Spanish, read, eat, travel, and watch sitcoms, telenovelas, and women’s basketball. I also love to walk for hours on end, preferably with my dogs or in a new city.
